The Polyphonic Spree video had some very subtle symbolism in it. And some not so subtle "subliminal" messages with the word HOPE splattered throughout.

I thought the pacing of the photos was perfect for a generation accustomed to short sound bites and flickering images. The attention span of the current generation is perfectly suited to this type of editing.

Another thing that struck me is some of the movements were militaristic, the clothing was very conformist and there were some messianic poses by the front man. It seemed to be at odds with the word HOPE that was being run throughout the piece.

Astute observations, Sue!

There's a sequence at around 2:11 in the video where there is a distance shot of a cellist that in 1 or 2 frames essentially zooms out immediately. I love that effect because it's something that can only really be done through stills, but is a great motion simulation.

And by "that video" I meant Polyphonic Spree... can we not edit comments?

Nick,

I think you can edit comments (?) I'll try editing this one!

Hmmm... I guess I can only delete (and replace).
